Winx Stakes
Group 1 Racing is back with the Winx Stakes at Randwick this Saturday. A very good field has assembled for it and many recently trialled together. They’ll all be hoping to get off to a good start in their Spring campaigns. Let’s try and tip you a winner.
Speed Map
Where does the speed come from in this? Hard to know. Forbidden Love will try and lead. Does Profondo go forward? Hinged from the wide barrier will try to be handy as well. There will be a big group of them all together behind the speed. Icebath and Fangirl are likely to be the two chasing them all down.
Key Runners

Mo’unga
Two good trials for this. Usually good fresh and should be on speed and will wind up with a big run late. Big chance.
2:
Stockman
1400m seems a bit short here, along with the track not being as heavy as he may prefer. Not here.
3:
Anamoe
Hard to know what to do with Anamoe first up. Could get the perfect run and blitz them. $2.40 right now seems short. I’d take $3.50 if we ever see that price late.
4:
Profondo
Had an Autumn to forget but Avdulla going on is a big plus. If they try to lead, it could be a big chance. Wouldn’t discourage a place bet.

Hilal
Looks a tough race for it here. Happy to risk.
6:
Benaud
Nearly beat home Hitotsu in the Autumn but first up, this will be a bit much. One to follow.
7:
Duais
On a Cups path in Melbourne. Would be a freakish win here at 1400m. Happy to leave out.
8:
Forbidden Love
Was disappointing last start in a race that looked to suit. This is a lot harder. Price including fitness still looks short. Happy to risk.
9:
Icebath
Priced fairly. Could bob up as a place chance. Happy to leave out.
10:
Fangirl
Prefers a good surface and is likely to be near last. Doesn’t seem like an amazing recipe to take $8. Happy to risk.
11:
Hinged
Wide barrier the concern but has to be a big chance if near top. Nash will know where the best ground is. Watch the betting.
Betting Strategy
This is a very difficult race to assess with so many first up but Mo’unga looks good odds at an EW basis.
