The VRC Oaks
The VRC Oaks over 2500m takes place this Thursday at Flemington as we get closer to the end of Cup Week. Should still be a wet track but there’s only a little rain around forecasted. Let’s try and find the winner.

Not expecting any wild speed here. Pavitra, Zenzella and Sirius Princess can all lead.
Expect Let’sbefrankbaby and She’s Extreme to be right next to each other in run. Renaissance Women and Foxy Cleopatra are the likely swoopers.
Key Runners

She’s Extreme
The clear standout here, who has form around Group 1 horses everywhere
this prep. Wetter the better, but if it dries out, expect a market drift with all her wins on Heavy
ground. Hard to tip anything to beat her and we get a fair price to be with her.
2: 
Zennzella
The key form reference in this, beating home many in this field last start in the
Wakeful. Was a dream ride from McDonald who sticks, but $12 there vs $6 here doesn’t seem
value. Can win, but willing to risk here.
3: 
Renaissance Woman
Was only fair in the Spring Champion but did beat Manzoice home in
that race however, who went on to win the Derby. This is a lot easier, with only small concerns
on the map if King doesn’t want to be positive. No distance queries for mine but we’ll find out.
Fair odds right now with no value to bet.
4: 
Pavitra
Second behind Zennzella last start where she had her chance to win. Will be at peak
fitness for this race now. Getting the same odds however in a somewhat harder race doesn’t
appeal. Winning chance but no value.
5: 
Foxy Cleopatra
Couldn’t match the winner in the last 50m last start but ran well. Will get
another good chance to wind up late here and run down the front runners. Lightly raced so
could beat a few home here who don’t handle the track. Winning chance at fair odds.
6: 
Let’sbefrankbaby
Worked home well last start behind Zennzella. Maybe doesn’t get the fast
speed up front this time to get into the race late? Can run well but looks a bit off the top few in
betting.
7: 
As Time Goes By
Third behind Zennzella in the Wakeful. Started favourite in that race at
$4.60, and now we get $14 here. Looks a good value play based on the SP Profile and can
compete in this.
8: 
Queen Air
Zoomed home in the Wakeful to finish 3rd behind Zennzella. Any similar tempo
should see her finishing just as well, and like the setup leading into this from the stable. Market
watch for any late support.
9: 
Sirius Princess
Only one run on wet tracks so unsure if she’ll handle it at Flemington. Looks
a level below in this.
10: 
Makrana
Certainly no issues on a wet track or distance here. Ran on well enough last start
but was still a long way behind Zennzella. Hard to turn the tables here.
11: 
Albanian Icon
Shouldn’t have any worry getting the distance but that’s about the only
positive here. Surprised she’s in the race. The deserving outsider.
Betting Strategy
A lot of these runners come from the Wakeful Stakes where Zennzella was the winner, but it’s
hard to see any of them from that race turning up and beating She’s Extreme based on what
she’s done in Sydney. Happy to be with the favourite in this with good confidence.
